Prime Minister to present Ekushey Padak on Saturday

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is said to bestow the Ekushey Padak award to the respective winners on Saturday morning at capital’s Osmani Memorial auditorium.   

The ministry of Culture & Arts announced the names which include retired justice Kazi Ebadul Haque, literature professor Hayat Mahmud and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman’s former press secretary Toab Khan for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.  Justice Kazi Ebadul Haque, Dr. Saeed Haider and Dr. Jasim Uddin have been chosen for their contribution in the 1952 Language movement. For outstanding contribution in the liberation war Mufidul Haque, one of the trustees and founder of Liberation War Museum and for outstanding journalism senior editor of Daily Janakontho, Toab Khan is receiving the Ekushey Padak award this year.  

The winners of the Ekushey Padak will be rewarded with an award made of 18 karat gold weighing 35 grams, 2 lakh taka, and an honor certificate.
