Bangladesh Army reshuffles top level

The Bangladesh Army has made changes to some of its senior-level positions, including Chief of General Staff (CGS) and the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

Inter-Services Public Relations director Lt Col Mohammed Rashidul Hasan has confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune and said the Defense Ministry issued the order for changes on Thursday.

Maj Gen Mohammad Nazimuddin, who earlier was General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55th Infantry Division and Jessore area commander, has been newly appointed as the CGS.

Director Military Operations (DMO) Brig Gen Nayeem Ashfaque Chowdhury has been promoted to major general and made chief of the 55th Infantry Division stationed in Jessore.

Maj Gen Md Saiful Abedin, commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), has been newly appointed as Director General (DG) of the military intelligence body DGFI.

The present DG of DGFI, Maj Gen Mohammad Akbar Hossain, will move on to his new role as GOC of the 9th Infantry Division at Savar.

Meanwhile, the present GOC of the 9th Infantry Division, Maj Gen Waqar Ujjaman, has been made Military Secretary (MS) of the Bangladesh Army.

The current MS, Maj Gen Abdullahil Baki, has been newly transferred as commandant of DSCSC.

The present GOC of the 10th Infantry Division Maj Gen Ataul Hakim Sarwar has been transferred as the Logistics Area Commander at Dhaka Cantonment.

Deputy Force Commander Maj Gen Mohammad Maksudur Rahman at the United Nation’s mission in Darfur, Sudan, has been appointed as GOC of the 10th Infantry Division in his stead.
