JCD rebels set fire to its office

A group of deprived Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) members, who failed to make room in the 736-member giant central committee, went out on rampage at its office and set fire to it on Monday afternoon.

Earlier on Saturday, the full committee of the student wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was approved by the party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia one year after formation of the committee.

The dissidents vandalised furniture at the office on the fourth floor of BNP’s central office at Naya Paltan and set fire to them and to two motorbikes parked in front of the BNP’s central office.

The demonstrators demanded immediate resignation of BNP’s student affairs secretary Shahiduddin Chodwdhury Annie and assistant secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku accusing them of nepotism.
