Ruling Awami League (AL) MP and former state minister for Health Dr Capt (retd) Mujibur Rahman Fakir of Mymensingh-3 constituency passed away on Monday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 69.

He breathed his last around 9:15 am at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

 He was admitted to the hospital around 2:30am with chest pain and kept at the coronary care unit, hospital sources said.

In separate condolence messages, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury prayed for eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed sympathy to members of his bereaved family.
