A total of 43 leaders and activists of the then 19-party alliance, including BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was charged on Tuesday in a case filed with Paltan Police Station in 2014.

Sub-inspector of the police station Tabibur Rahman submitted two charge-sheets -- one for torching vehicles and the other under the Explosive Substances Act -- to SI Jalal Uddin, general recording officer of the Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, reports news agency UNB.

On December 29, 2014, assistant sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station Abdul Malek Hawlader filed a case against 43 named leaders of the then 19-party alliance and 50-60 unknown combine men with the police station for torching vehicles after vandalising those and obstructing police from performing their duties.
