Police man shot in Feni polling centre

A sub-inspector of Phulgazi police station was shot injured by a group of miscreants during their alleged bid to capture a polling centre in Dhania union of Sadar upazila on Saturday. Quoting police news agency UNB said a group of miscreants stormed Alipur Government Primary School polling centre around 11:30 am and tried to take control of the centre. When Mohammad Yeasin, a sub-inspector of the police station, tried to resist them, the miscreants opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured, reports UNB. Later he was rushed to Feni Sadar Hospital. BNP-backed chairman candidate Jakir Hossain Jashim accused the suppoters of Awami League-backed contestant Anwar Hossain Munshi of casting fake votes, driving his men out of the centres and attempt to capture those. Jakir Hossain Jashim later citing the irregularities boycotted polls race. He announced the boycott at a press briefing around 12 pm.
