Cumilla clinch big win over Sylhet despite having low total
Cumilla Victorians clinched a bit win by 52 runs against Sylhet Strikers in the 10th game of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Friday despite having a low total on the board.
The defending champions bowled the hosts out for just 78 runs while defending 130 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Sylhet started losing wickets from very beginning of their innings when they came into the crease targeting 131. It was only Zakir Hasan who propelled the team to somehow manage to accumulate 78 runs with his 34-ball 41.
Aliss Islam is the pick of the Victorians bowlers taking four wickets conceding just 17 runs in four overs while Roston Chase got two.
Earlier, Cumilla managed to post 130-like mediocre total even after having a good start.
Being asked to bat, Cumilla got a powerful start collecting 51 runs in the Mandatory Powerplay. However, they did not able to keep going with it as wickets started falling from the next over.
Continuous losing of of wickets affected Cumilla's run rate as they had to stop at 130 after 20 overs.
Imrul Kayes contributed the highest 30 runs for his team while Jaker Ali and Khushdil Shah added 29 and 21 runs respectively.
Samit Patel was the pick of the Sylhet bowlers taking three wickets while Richard Ngarava got two.
