Bangladeshi gets life imprisonment in Britain for plotting attack
Junead Khan

A Bangladeshi origin British man has been jailed for life for planning a terror attack on a US airbase in Britain.

A court in London on Friday sentenced Junead Khan, 25, for contacting the Islamic State militant group following a plan to attack the US airbase in East Anglia, bdnews24.com reported.

He was preparing to go to Syria to join the IS, the police said. Junead's relative Shazib Khan joined the group last year.

He had sent a message to Syrian IS leaders about his plan to explode a "pressure cooker bomb" at the airbase.

According to police, Junead possessed the IS flag and bomb manual.

The trial heard how one message described an attack on military personnel, which Khan and Hussain compared to the deadly knife attack by two Islamists on British soldier Lee Rigby in London in 2013.

Khan, who stared straight ahead as he was sentenced, had also been found guilty of preparing to join the IS group in Syria with his uncle, 23-year-old Shazib Khan.
