Dhaka stocks drop to lowest in 42 months

Dhaka stocks on Tuesday plunged again with the key index dropping below 4,450 points – lowest in 42 months – with investors selling stocks in a panic.

The DSEX, key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), today lost 1.75 percent or 78.66 points to close at 4,419.82 points.

Turnover at the bourse decreased by 8.15 percent or Tk282 crore compared to that in the previous day.

At the DSE, a total of 35 securities gained market cap, 278 lost, and 40 remained unchanged.

The CASPI, the main index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today lost 1.7 percent or 232.87 points to close at 13,441.58 points.

Turnover at the port city bourse decreased by 26 percent or Tk14.63 crore compared to that in the previous day.

At the CSE, a total of 35 securities gained market cap, 173 lost, and 22 remained unchanged.
