Walton to get 20m euro investment from German corporation

The country’s electronics giant ‘Walton’ is going to get another fresh investment of  20 million euros from the German Investment Corporation DEG, a development finance institution of the Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development of Germany, to expand its global market operation, the company said in a press statement yesterday.

Walton will spent this fresh investment on factory expansion and modernisation as well as products’ research and development activities.

SM Ashraful Alam, managing director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL), welcomed Lars Nieder, head of division for KfW and DEG of the German’s Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development, and Faiyaz Hossain, investment manager of KfW-DEG Dhaka Office, when they visited Walton factory in this context.

Earlier, the German Devlopment Corporation made two separate investments, of which one was US$ 20 million and the other was 23 million euros in different projects of Walton.

Edward Kim, president of International Business Unit of Walton, said, Now, Walton is exporting various sorts of electronics and electrical appliances to more than 35 countries of the world.

International experts from Italy, Japan, and South Korea are working on Walton products’ design, development and marketing.

He informed that Walton has received several international standards’ certifications including OHSAS, EMC, CB, ROHS, SASO, ESMA, ESHA, G-Mark, E-Mark etc.
