The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is going to honour top taxpayers on February 11 for creating awareness of the importance of paying tax.

NBR has selected a total of 141 taxpayers to recognise the individuals and corporate entities for the highest tax payments in fiscal year 2019-20.

Of the winners, some 76 are individual taxpayers while 53 corporate taxpayers and 12 in other categories.

Hazi Md Kaus Mia, Syed Abul Hossain, Nazrul Islam Mazumder, Nuruzzaman Khan and Mohammad Kamal will receive the award under the business people category.

Besides, NBR will also honour top taxpayers at the district level.

The top individual and corporate taxpayers will be honoured with tax cards, crests and certificates.

ID cardholders will get privileges in government hospitals, airlines and other public transports, and invitations to local programmes of the government. They will also be able to use the CIP (commercially important person) lounges at airports.
