Singer Monali Thakur has no problems with auto tune
While many singers aren’t okay with Bollywood actors using auto tune software to sing for various films, playback singer Monali Thakur feels singers should adjust to the upcoming trend, and be confident of their own ability.
“We, as singers, have to realise that times have changed and a lot of things will keep on evolving. Everyday the sound is changing and we have to adjust to that, so it’ the same with actors singing,” she says.
Auto Tune feature is used to manipulate the human voice and move from one pitch to another smoothly. Monali, who won the National award for singing Moh Moh Ke Dhaage in Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dum Laga Ke Haisha, adds that only producer of the film can decide who will sing which song in his film, and adds that she is okay when an actor uses the tool to enhance their voice for the song.
“Only the producer can take that call. If they think that a particular person’s voice will suit their song the best, and if they can justify the melody, then anyone can sing any song,” she says.
“At the end of the day, a song is meant to be enjoyed by everyone, so who sings it really should not matter, as long as the song is good, and the music is being celebrated. If the voice is able to establish an emotional connect with the listener then its completely justified,” she adds.
