Why monsoon is the best time to take care of your skin
Monsoon can play havoc with your skin. Sweat, oily skin and acne are everyday skin problems that most of us face during this season. But everything need not be bleak and dreary. Did you know that monsoon is the ideal time to rejuvenate your skin? Don’t believe us, then listen to the experts. Dermatologists, Dr Sanjay Parashar, cosmetic skin specialist and cosmetic surgeon, Cocoona, Delhi, and Dr Anju Methil, dermatologist, Mumbai, support this claim too. Since the sun is easy on you, it can be the best time to undo the damage the summer sun has left behind. It’s also the perfect time to go for acne, scar and wrinkle treatments as you are protected after procedures like peeling, fractionated C02 laser and derma roller.
How is it good?
* It’s a good time to get into a cleansing routine. During monsoons, one should not ignore the humidity and sweat that comes along with it. Use a mild soap-free cleanser twice daily, a mild alcohol-free toner once daily (try rose water) to clear residual skin impurities and reduce pores, and a facial scrub for dead-skin exfoliation twice a week.
* Aloe vera is not only a great natural sunscreen and skin cooler but also an amazing antibacterial agent. Bacterial infections breed in this weather. Put on some aloe vera-based products to keep your skin healthy.
* Since there is no harsh summer sun to irritate your skin, you can use this time to get rid of tan and pigmentation. It’s also the right time for acne and wrinkle treatments, simply because the weather is not dry.
* For the lazy ones, your brushes and other skincare tools can finally do with a cleaning, or else you will see fungus grow on them.
Here’s a DIY face pack you can use during monsoon (it acts as an excellent moisturiser and cleanser):
* Make a mixture with 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp dried and powdered orange peel and cucumber juice.
* Apply the mix to your face and neck and keep it on for 5 mins.
* Wash it off with cold water for a healthy, glowing skin.
