Nizami laid to rest at family graveyard

Condemned war Criminal Matiur Rahman Nizami was buried at the family graveyard beside a madrasa at Monmotpur village of Dhopadaha union council under Santhia Upazila of Pabna at 7:15am today.

Nizami was buried after a namaz-e-janaza around 6:45am. The janaza was administered by Nizami's elder son Barrister Najib Momen.

His son Nazib Momen received the body from Upazila executive officer around 6:40am.

Two ambulances, including one carrying the corpse of the Jamaat-e-Islami chief, reached his village around 6:15am on Wednesday.

Nizami was buried beside the grave of his parents in his village home as he advised the family members to do so.

Earlier on Yesterday night, the 71-year-old Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was hanged by the rope inside Dhaka Central Jail at 11:55pm, Jahangir Kabir, superintendent of the prison, said. The body was taken down from the noose at 12:10am.
