IGP commands police to remain vigil to prevent militancy
Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque on Friday ordered the members of his department to stay alert to fend off militant activities and killings in the country. He came up with the directives while addressing the special welfare meeting at the District Police Lines at noon. Declaring a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drugs, the IGP asked all police members to work sincerely in this regard, reports UNB. He also lamented that the involvement of a section of policemen in using drugs and drug trade is hurting the image of the force. “All the achievements of police are being destroyed for this section of policemen,” he said. Among others, DIG (Dhaka Range) SM Mahfuzul Haque Nuruzzaman and additional police super Zakir Hasan also spoke at the programme with police super of the district Mahfuzur Rahman in the chair. Earlier, Shahidul Hoque inaugurated the newly constructed barrack of women police.
