Six Bangladeshi workers charged in Singapore

A Singapore court on Friday indicted six Bangladeshi nationals for armed violence and financing militants.

The six, aged between 26 and 31, were among eight Bangladeshi men who the Singapore authority said were members of a group called Islamic State in Bangladesh (ISB).

The investigation revealed that several members of the group had considered carrying out armed violence overseas.

27 Bangladeshis were arrested in November and December. Twenty-six were deported, while the last one was jailed for attempting to leave Singapore illegally.

The Bangladeshis were encouraged to return home and wage armed jihad against the government in Dhaka, and tried to recruit other Bangladeshis to their group.
