Thailand keen to invest in power sector: Nasrul Hamid
Thailand has expressed its keen interest to provide necessary technical support to and invest in Bangladesh’s power sector, reports BSS. Thailand showed the interest while State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Nasrul Hamid today paid a curtsey call on Energy Minister of Thailand General Anantaporn Kanjanarat at his office in Bangkok, said a press release here. During the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues including enhancement of trade and investment in different sectors including setting up of gas, oil and coal-based power plants. Nasrul Hamid called upon the Thailand's public and private sectors to invest in power sector in Bangladesh including coal and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) based power plant, LNG terminal and electricity transmission system as the government has provided various facilities including capacity charge and tax rebates. Thai minister General Anantaporn Kanjanarat expressed his interest to invest in the sector and said the existing bilateral relation will be further increased in future.
