10 killed, 25 injured in Bogra road crash
At least ten people were killed and 25 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Bogra highway at Dhankundi in Sherpur upazila of Bogra district on Friday. Five of the deceased were identified as Parvez Alam, 37, son of Abdul Aziz of Dinajpur district; Bhola Mia, 42, son of Abdul Malek of Tangail district; Shamim, 40, bus driver and son of Hafiz Uddin; Nazmul Sarkar, 40, son of Nurul Islam of Dinajpur district; and Benzir Rahman, 35, son of Khalilur Rahman of Rangpur district, reports UNB. Quoting Ehsan Ali, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station, UNB said the accident occurred around 6am when a Dinajpur-bound bus of ‘Rekha Enterprise’ from Bogra collided head-on with the Dhaka-bound stone-laden truck, coming from the opposite direction, leaving seven people killed on the spot and 28 others injured. The injured were taken to different local clinics and hospitals. Of them, one was declared dead at Sherpur Upazila Health Complex while physicians found two more dead at Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
