The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is likely to provide the full report of the DNA test, conducted on the body of slain Comilla college student Sohagi Jahan Tonu, to the medical board formed for her 2nd autopsy.

 

The DNA report reached the CID’s Comilla office from its Dhaka forensic department on Monday night, UNB quoted sources at the local CID office as saying.

 

Sub-inspector of Comilla CID Gazi M Ibrahim, also investigation officer of the case, is likely to hand over the DNA test report to the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital. 

 

The report came to the CID’s Comilla office after a Comilla court on Sunday ordered the CID in this regard.

 

Additional Senior Judicial Magistrate of Comilla Joynab Begum ordered DNA analyst Special Superintendent of Police Nasima Begum to provide the report, said sub-inspector of Comilla Court Police Badal Biswas.

 

Earlier, a Comilla court ordered the CID to give the DNA report of the two samples-- teeth and spermatozoa-- out of total seven samples to the medial board following pleas filed by the board.

 

On March 30, Tonu’s body was exhumed from her grave for collecting DNA sample, fresh post mortem and proper investigation of the case.

 

Later, members of Crime Scene Unit of CID brought the DNA and other samples of teeth, nails and body to Dhaka for examination.

 

Sohagi Jahan Tonu, second year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College and member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment area on March 20.
