Indian High Commissioner to visit two northern districtsIndian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla will visit two districts of northern division of the country -- Rajshahi and Natore-- on January 29 and 30 respectively.
On January 29, the High Commissioner will first visit the Nagar Bhaban in Rajshahi city where a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to be signed on 'Sustainable Development of Rajshahi City'.
However, a number of small projects would be undertaken under the MoU with financial aid for Taka 21.95 crore.
The event will be followed by a civic reception to the High Commissioner by the Rajshahi City Corporation when the High Commissioner will customarily be handed over a key to the city of Rajshahi.
On the same day, Shringla is scheduled to meet the Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University to discuss the academic activities of the university.
He also will meet members of the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On January 30, the High Commissioner will visit the Bangladesh Police Academy at Sardah to monitor the construction work of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Building and the IT Centre undertaken by India where India is providing financial assistance for Taka 10.85 crore for this project.
However, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina jointly inaugurated the project during Indian PM's visit to Dhaka in June 2015.
Later, Shringla will visit the Jai Kalibari Temple in Natore district to monitor the re-construction and renovation work of the temple.
The re-construction and renovation of the temple have been undertaken with the financial assistance of Taka 97 lakh by the Indian government.
The High Commissioner is also scheduled to visit the Assistant High Commission of India in Rajshahi.
