International Mother's Day is being observed across the country today as elsewhere in the world, honouring mothers with greetings.

The International Mother's Day has been celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year.

The day is celebrated in Bangladesh through different programmes including a grand reception to mothers of jewels, in recognition of their contribution to every sphere of life.

50 women will be honoured with “Ratnagarva Ma Awards” (mother of jewels awards) today at a grand ceremony at Samson H Chowdhury Center, Dhaka Club, at around 10:30am for their outstanding contribution to their families and the society.

Azad Products will hand over the awards to the mothers.

Founder president of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra (BSK), Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, will be present as a chief guest in the award giving ceremony.

Maxposure Limited also organized special programs titled 'Me and Ma'  at National Museum's Sufia Kamal Auditorium at 6pm to commemorate the special day.
