Pakistan also welcomes AL govt

Pakistan has welcomed Awami League-led newly elected government in Bangladesh.

"We welcome the newly elected government in Bangladesh," saidDr Muhammad Faisal,spokesman at Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, reports UNB.

Pakistan interefered in Bangladesh's domestic affairs on several occasions in the past years with regard to trial of war criminals and their executions who collaborated with Pakistani army during the War of Liberation in 1971.

Dr Faisal said theyhope and expect that the new government in Bangladesh will help take the bilateral relationship away from the "irritants" that it has faced in the recent times, according to Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Members of the upcoming cabinet of AL government will be sworn in on Monday.

The oath-taking ceremony will be held at 3 pm.

President Abdul Hamid on Thursday invited Awami League President Sheikh Hasina to form the new government after her party's massive victory in the 11th national election.
