Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla said Bangladesh is one of the most successful countries in the world.

He also said Bangladesh’s progress specifically over the last decade is remarkable.

Shringla made the remarks while delivering his speech at a farewell reception at Indian High commission in the capital on Sunday evening (January 6).

The outgoing Indian envoy is set to leave Dhaka on Monday (January 7).

Shringla said as a genuine friend and neighbor, India wants to see a developed, stable and peaceful Bangladesh. 'I am leaving Bangladesh, but the people of this country will always remain in my heart,' he added.

“I have visited almost all the districts of Bangladesh in three years of my tenure. I have seen people of Bangladesh are very generous, hardworking and collaborative. I always felt I was staying at my own home. So, leaving the country means leaving my home,” then outgoing High Commissioner also said.

Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, politicians, MPs, journalists, and businessmen attended the event.
