Milon wins Kazi Mahboobullah Award

Imdadul Haq Milon, prolific author and editor of the Daily Kaler Kantho won the Kazi Mahboobullah Award 2018 for his outstanding contributions to Bengali literature.

Begum Zebunnesa O Kazi Mahboobullah Janakalyan Trust has recently announced the names of four winners of the award.

The rest three winners are — Dr Firdausi Qadri in science, Grand Master Rani Hamid in sports, and veteran actor Syed Hasan Imam in lifetime achievement category.

The trust will shortly hand over a crest, certificate and an amount of Tk one lakh in cash to the awardees in a ceremony.

Zobaida Mahboob Latif, chairman of the trust, greeted the four winners of the award this year.

Imdadul Haq Milon, a renowned novelist and journalist, spent his childhood with his maternal grandmother.

Then, he moved to Gendaria in Dhaka. He wrote his first story Bondhu in 1973. Bangla Academy’s Uttaradhikar magazine published his first novel Jabojjibon.

He authored books on classic stories, historical writings, romantic stories and other genres. Over 150 books of Milon were published.

His ancestral home is at village Paisha under Lohajang Police Station in Munshiganj district. Gias Uddin Khan is his father and Anwara Begum is his mother.
