Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Chairman of the country's leading industrial and business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, has been honored with the "Dashovuja Bangalee - 2019" award in Kolkata for his outstanding contributions in the business sector.

St. Xavier's College of Kolkata awarded Ahmed Akbar Sobhan on the occasion of marking "International Mother Language Day" at the college campus on Friday evening.

Apart from Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, renowned Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee, musician Iman Chakraborty, poet Joy Goswami, playwright Bratya Basu, film director Shoojit Sircar, actress Jaya Ahsan, footballer Surajit Sengupta, Dr Sukumar Mukherjee and film critic Saibal Chatterjee were honored with the award.
