Convict wears IS cap at court premises
A death-raw convict of the Holey Artisan Bakery attack case was seen wearing a cap of international militant group-Islamic State at court premises on Wednesday (November 27).
Aslam Hossain alias Rash, who is one of the seven convicts sentenced to death, was also seen chanting Takbir ‘Allah akbar,’ usually translated as”God is the greatest".
He put on a black cap before members of law enforcement agencies while he was getting on the lift.
All the convicts were surprisingly cheerful at court premises even after the verdict was announced. They scolded law enforcers after pronouncement of the verdict. They didn’t seem afraid at all.
Dhaka Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Mohammad Mujibur Rahman sentenced seven persons were to death in the sensational Holey Artisan attack case on Wednesday (Nov 27) noon.
The court acquitted another accused Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan in the case.
The death row convicts are– Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, alleged recruiter of the café attackers; Aslam Hossain alias Rash, one of the alleged planners; Abdus Sabur Khan alias Sohel Mahfuz, reported grenade supplier; and Hadisur Rahman Sagor; Rakibul Hasan Regan, so-called religious trainer; and Shariful Islam Khaled and Mamunur Rashid Ripon.
Militants killed 20 people in the attack carried out at Holey Artisan café in city’s Gulshan on July 1, 2016.
Police filed the case under the anti-terror act with Gulshan Police Station.
