Man killed in launch collision

A man was killed and 12 others were injured in a head-on collision between two launches in the Meghna River in Sonargaon upazila of Naryanganj early Saturday.

Deceased Humayun, 35, was a resident in Bhedarganj upazila of Shariatpur.

Gazaraia Police Investigation Center officer in-charge Aminul Islam said 'Bogdadia-13' launch coming from Dhaka collided head-on with 'Manik-4' in the river in Charkishoreganj area around 1:00am, leaving one passenger of Manik-4 dead on the spot and 12 others injured.

The injured were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka.

It is not clear whether anyone went missing or not.

The rescue operation is on in the river, the police official said.
