Huge foreign cigarettes seized at Chattogram airport

Nine hundred and six cartons cigarettes of foreign brand Esse were seized on Saturday from three passengers of two flights at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram. 

"Acting on a tip-off, the National Security Intelligence with the assistance of the customs intelligence and investigation directorate, seized the cigarettes," said Riyadul Islam, deputy commissioner of customs at the airport. 

The authorities concerned will take action against them as per customs law, he said.

According to the airport sources, the cigarettes were recovered from Afsarul Islam, Mohammad Jony and Nurul Absar. All the three are residents of Chattogram's Fatikchhari upazila.
