NID not mandatory now for train tickets
The Railway Ministry has revoked its earlier decision making national identity (NID) card mandatory for buying train tickets.
However, tickets can be brought for up to four members of a family by showing one NID card, according to a circular issued by the ministry on Thursday.
The circular said earlier on August 13 Bangladesh Railway issued a press release saying passengers need mandatory NIDs for buying tickets and traveling. However, that order has been relaxed to ensure hassle free journey to passengers.
