Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a voice message has extended her greetings to the people of the country on the eve of the Victory Day and urged them to celebrate the occasion following proper health guidelines due to the fresh surge of coronavirus.

The 45-second voice message is being sent to each of nearly 17 crore mobile phone users of the country on the eve of the Victory Day which is scheduled to be celebrated on December 16, reports UNB.

In the message of greetings, the premier said: “Assalamualaikum, I am Sheikh Hasina. I am extending my best wishes to you on the occasion of the Victory Day.”

“We have achieved independence through 24-year long struggle and the Great War of Liberation led by our great leader, the greatest Bangali of all time, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina went on saying: “Coronavirus has wrecked havoc on our life for the most, but after that, I extended my greetings to you.”

The premier said, “I urged all of you to celebrate the Victory Day following the health guidelines.”

“We admire the sacrifice of millions of martyrs through turning Bangladesh into a developed, prosperous, hunger and poverty-free and non-communal Bangladesh,” she added.

At the end of the message, the Premier concluded saying: “Stay well, stay healthy.”

The posts and telecommunications minister Mustafa Jabbar told BSS today that they have already started to send the greetings voice message of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of the Victory Day and it will continue till December 16.

“The mobile phone operators have not the capacity to send the voice message at a time and that is why it is being sent in phases,” he added.
