Mayor Taposh urges complainants to withdraw cases against Khokon
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh has urged to complainants to withdraw two cases filed against the city’s former mayor Sayeed Khokon.
He made the urge at a press conference on the occasion of Shakrain Festival-1427 at the Mayor Hanif Auditorium of DSCC’s Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday (January 12) afternoon.
In reply to query, Mayor Taposh said, “The two cases lodged yesterday- I am not involved in any way with these cases. Some very enthusiastic people have filed the cases without my permission. I hope they will withdraw the cases. If such a situation arises, it will be considered in the future. In that context, I said this on Monday (January 11). After that I do not want to reply to any more questions. Even if I am scolded for it, I will not respond.”
He said, “I do not think there is any need for comment on this. People actually took the matter as very ridiculous. It is not appropriate to talk about it, because I am in a responsible position. Many people can make many kinds of comments, various comments can come about the person who is in a responsible position. Not all comments matter anymore. It is not appropriate to comment on that.”
He further said, “The aggressive remarks made by the former mayor about me personally out of resentment seem to have been defamatory. This is what I mentioned yesterday. We are reviewing in that context. If necessary, there may be a lawsuit. That’s what I said yesterday.”
