No place for drug addicts in police force: DMP Commissioner

DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam issued a stern warning that there will be no place for drug addicts in the police force.
He came up with the directive while addressing the DMP’s monthly crime review meeting held at Rajarbagh Police Auditorium on Wednesday.
Addressing the police officers present at the meeting, DMP boss said “Crime cannot be controlled by mere vigilance. Those involved in various crimes must be arrested, we have to ensure justice by bringing them under the law.”
The DMP commissioner said bit policing activities need to be accelerated. It provides lots of information that plays an important role in controlling crime in society.
He said we need to be more proactive in drug control. Not only recovering drugs but also, we have to go to the root of drugs.
“Slums should be drug free by applying technical methods as well as employing manual sources. Identify drug addicts and talk to their parents and guardians. We have to work for them to get back on the right path.”
In the monthly crime review meeting of December 2020, Mirpur division was selected as the best crime division, Detective Branch (Lalbagh division) as the best intelligence division and Traffic Lalbagh division as the best traffic division.
In recognition of their good work, the DMP Commissioner awarded 58 officers of different ranks of DMP.
