Defamation case against Sayed Khokon rejected

A Dhaka court has rejected a defamation case filed against former Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sayeed Khokon.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the order as plaintiff Kazi Anisur Rahman did not appear in the court on Tuesday.

Plaintiff of another case Advocate Md Sarwar Alam withdrew the case on January 12.

The two cases were filed against Sayeed Khokon for his adverse comments against Mayor of DSCC Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.

The DSCC demolished 911 illegally built shops at Fulbaria Super Market-2 that forced the traders and shop owners to live in dire condition.

The former mayor of DSCC Sayeed Khokon while expressing his solidarity with the affected traders and shop owners of the market on January 9 last in the capital brought corruption allegations against the incumbent mayor Taposh.

He alleged that Taposh had embezzled funds of City Corporation and transferred the money to Madhumoti bank that he owns.
