Bangladesh looking into legal action against Al Jazeera: FM

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the government is looking into whether legal action can be taken against Qatar-based news channel Al Jazeera for publishing a 'false and motivated' report.
Bangladesh government yesterday rejected Al Jazeera's investigative report titled “All the Prime Minister’s Men” terming it as “false and motivated” and a desperate “smear campaign”.
Al Jazeera has lost its credibility by running such a story completely based falsehood, misinformation, he told reporters at the ministry on Wednesday.
In response to a query, the minister said: "Al Jazeera should apologize. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had never appointed anybody as her bodyguard. Her party (AL) men are always her bodyguards."
On the issue of Rohingya repatriation, Momen said Bangladesh will continue repatriation talks with Myanmar though military has seized power of the country.
"We are maintaining communications with Myanmar through China and we have confidence on China in resolving the Rohingya issue," the said.
Following the recent military coup in Myanmar, many people are concerned that that fresh batch of Rohingyas may try to enter Bangladesh. When asked, Momen said: "We will not accept any Rohingya from Myanmar this time."
