President, PM mourn death of actor ATM Shamsuzzaman

President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak and National Film Award winning actor ATM Shamsuzzaman.

In a condolence message, the president prayed the salvation of the soul of ATM Shamsuzzaman and conveyed his deepest sympathy to his bereaved family.

In a separate condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the popular actor.

Sheikh Hasina said the popular actor will remain alive in the hearts of the people through his extraordinary performance.

She also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to his bereaved family members.

The popular actor passed away around 9 am on Saturday at his residence in Puran Dhaka at the age of 79.

Born on September 10, 1941, in Noakhali, the actor was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2015.

He won the Bangladesh National Film Awards five times for his roles in: “Dayee Ke?” (1987), “Madam Fuli” (1999), “Churiwala” (2001), “Mon Bosena Porar Table E” (2009), and “Chorabali” (2012).
