Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled, the former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, has been put on life support at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) in the city.

The BSMMU's vice chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua said Ibrahim Khaled, also a noted economist, was transferred to the hospital from Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Mirpur on Sunday evening as condition deteriorated.

After that he was on life support.

Ibrahim Khaled is in very critical condition. His CT scan will not be possible due to his health condition, Dr Kanak Kanti said.

He has been undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh Specialised Hospital for some days after he was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled has recently joined the Pubali Bank Limited as an independent director. He was also the managing director of Pubali Bank Limited for the 2001-2006 period.
