New pesticide for controlling mosquito: Taposh
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Thursday said that a new pesticide would be brought after two weeks to control Culex mosquito as the population of the insect increased.
He revealed the information while speaking at the sixth corporation meeting at DSCC Nagar Bhaban.
Taposh said, “By two weeks, a new pesticide will arrive. We will use the pesticide for controlling the Culex. I hope the complaints of increasing mosquito population can be resolved using the pesticide.”
He also claimed that they tested the current pesticide several times to check its effectiveness.
“Mosquito grows resilience because of using the same pesticide for a long period of time. Besides, the same pesticide is used for both the Aedes and Culex mosquito. Though it kills Aedes , not effective for Culex, he also said”
He also stressed on the monitoring the mosquito controlling activities.
Regarding the water logging problems the Mayor said, “We are working to resolve water logging problem targeting the upcoming monsoon in the capital laying our highest priority. Our officials and employees are working relentless in this regard.”
Taposh said that the councilors also have to be vigilant and take effective steps besides providing about the water logging spots.
