Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said, “We have achieved a lot in the 50 years of independence. Bangladesh is a role model in women's empowerment now.”

The speaker said this while talking to risingbd on the occasion of international women’s day.

Speaker said, “Bangladesh has made significant progress in the socio-economic development index.

She said, Bangladesh is working to achieve the target of Sustainable Development Goals following strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Shirin Sharmin said, Bangladesh is a shining example of women's empowerment. At present there are 73 women members of parliament. Of them, 23 are elected women MPs. Women are doing their duties with responsibly working in important roles like parliament leader, opposition leader, deputy leader of the parliament, speaker.
