Bangladesh extends strict restrictions for another week

Bangladesh has decided to extend the nationwide strict restrictions for another week to contain the spike in coronavirus infections.

The restrictions will continue till July 14. The Cabinet Division issued the circular in this regard on Monday (July 5).

The country went into a strict COVID-19 restricts, with the army and police ordered to stop people leaving their homes except for emergencies or to buy essentials.

Army troopers have been deployed to patrol alongside civilian forces during the shutdown, which begins on Thursday (July 1).

As per directives, no one is allowed to leave home except for an emergency during the time of strict restrictions.

The country on Sunday (July 4) recorded the highest single-day COVID-19 fatalities. According to official figure, 153 people died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours raising the number of total fatalities to 15,065. During the period of time, 8,661 people have tested positive for coronavirus raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 9,44,917.
