14 platoons of BGB deployed in Narayanganj
14 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed following the Narayanganj City Corporation polls to hold the elections in a free and fair manner and avoid untoward incidents.
The BGB members have remained deployed from Saturday (January 15) night.
BGB members will coordinate with other law enforcement agencies to keep the law and order situation under control at the polling centers and adjacent areas, said BGB officials.
BGB Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Faizur Rahman told the media, “A total of 14 platoons of BGB forces have been deployed in Narayanganj. They started their duty from Saturday night.”
According to sources at the law enforcement agencies, all the polling centers have been given special priority. Each of the 192 polling centers has a sub-inspector (SI) who will lead five policemen.
Besides, eight male and four female Ansar members are on duty to ensure security during the election. 27 units of police have been deployed as striking force. Mobile teams are on duty at 64 fields where each team consists of striking forces of RAB and five BGB members. The mobile teams have also set up check posts.
