The country has reported 22 more ‘Omicron’ cases, raising the number of people diagnosed with the South African type of COVID ‘Omicron’ in the country to 55.

This information was revealed by the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza (GISAID) in Germany on Monday (January 17).

Among those newly infected with Omicron, 12 are male and 10 are female. Besides, it is also known that 12 are from the capital’s Mohakhali area, four each from Uttara and Chankharpul areas and two from Bashabo area.

Earlier, on December 11 last year, ‘Omicron’ cases were first detected in the bodies of the two women cricketers in the country. Later in the period, those who got diagnosed with Omicron are currently in good health, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
