President, PM mourn death of journalist Peer Habib

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted journalist and executive editor of Bangladesh Pratidin Peer Habibur Rahman.

In his condolence message, the President said the death of Peer Habibur Rahman is an irreparable loss to the media industry of the country.

He said Peer Habib had played a very significant role in the development journalism in Bangladesh.

The head of the state prayed for the eternal peace of Peer Habibur Rahman and conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock and sorrow at the demise of Peer Habibur Rahman.

The premier prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. 

Meanwhile, Peer Habibur Rahman breathed his last at the Labaid Hospital at 4:08 pm on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday evening, he suffered a stroke while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital and was shifted to the ICU of Labaid Hospital in Dhaka.
