Bangladesh election atmosphere peaceful, say foreign observers

Foreign observers have expressed satisfaction witnessing the voting in the 12th parliamentary elections in Bangladesh.
They also highly praised the way the 12th parliamentary election was held on Sunday.
"We are satisfied over the election atmosphere in Bangladesh," Russian observer Andrei Shutov said while addressing a press conference at the Media Centre at Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Sunday evening.
Referring to the voting method, head of the foreign observers Hisham Kuhail said they did not come to Bangladesh to evaluate the country's political situation. "However, we did not witness any kind of violence here," he said.
Expressing satisfaction the way the election was conducted, the observers said they talked to the voters and agents of the candidates. "We're satisfied," said OIC's observer Sheikh Mohammad Bandar.
He said, "We didn't see any sign of violence as the observers. We were rather surprised why shops were closed, where there were no people on the roads. The situation in the capital was calm."
Observers from OIC, Russia, Palestine and Gambia were present at the press conference.
Addressing the press conference, a Scottish lawmaker also expressed his satisfaction over the poll time arrangements.
