Jinping greets Sheikh Hasina on re-election as PM
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
“China and Bangladesh are neighbours with long-established friendship. Over the past 49 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both our countries have always respected each other, treated each other equally, and achieved mutual benefit and win-win results,” he said in a letter.
The Chinese president said that both countries firmly support each other on issues that bear on each other's core interests, and jointly pursue the development and revitalisation of each country, bringing tangible benefits to our two peoples.
In this connection, he recalled that last August, both the leaders met in Johannesburg, South Africa, and reached an important consensus on the development of China-Bangladesh relations.
“It is expected that China and Bangladesh would make joint efforts to further implement the important consensus we have reached, enhance political mutual trust, promote traditional friendship, further synergize development strategies, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, to uplift the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation to a new height,” the Chinese president added in his letter.
He wished her good health, a rewarding career and every success in her life.
On the same day, Chinese Premier of State Council Li Qiang sent a congratulatory message to Sheikh Hasina on her reelection as Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
He said, “China and Bangladesh are close neighbours with long-established friendship and development partners of close cooperation.”
“In recent years, China and Bangladesh have deepened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful results in Belt and Road cooperation,” he added.
Li said he stands ready to work with the Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to promote bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation and further develop the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, to better benefit the two countries and two peoples.
