BNP announces a two-day demonstration programme
BNP on Friday calls for a two-day demonstration programme protesting the submission of chargesheets against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in two arson attack cases. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office. As part of the programme, he said the party will stage demonstrations in all district towns and divisional cities, except Dhaka, on Sunday. BNP leaders and activists will also demonstrate in Dhaka city on Monday. "The government is implicating our leader Khaleda Zia in false cases one after another for its political gain. We think it's also a plot to keep her away from politics. We strongly protest and condemn the submission of chargesheets in the false cases filed against her," UNB said quoting Fakhrul. He demanded the government immediately withdraw all the 'false' cases filed against the BNP chairperson. Earlier on Wednesday, police submitted chargesheets against Khaleda and 26 others in two cases filed in connection with arson attacks in the city's Darussalam area last year.
