AL 'cadres' make it a grand festival of vote rigging: Rizvi
Terming it a grand festival of vote rigging, BNP on Saturday alleged that the ruling party cadres captured most polling stations in the sixth and last phase of the Union Parishad (UP) as they did in other phases.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the remarks while speaking at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
He also accused the government of unilaterally turning the results of all the sixth phases of UP polls into its favour by resorting to terrorism and using the Election Commission and administration.
Quoting Rizvi news agency UNB said "As per the information we've received so far from different areas, ruling party men have captured most polling stations. Voters are not allowed to go to polling stations. Awami League cadres are stuffing ballots in favour of their election symbol boat through establishing a reign of terror".
Balloting in the elections to 698 UPs under 82 upazilas in the 6th and final phase started at 8am and will end at 4pm without any break.
