'BNP doesn't believe in politics of confrontation'
Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday alleged that the government wants to push the party men towards a conflict by creating obstruction on holding programmes marking the January 5, 2014, national election.
“We don’t believe in politics of confrontation rather changeover of power through voting,” he said.
The BNP leader said this while addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city.
Earlier, he held a joint meeting there to successfully organize a rally at the city’s Suhrawardy Udyan on January 7.
Fakhrul slammed the government for creating obstruction to BNP men to hold black flag rally at different parts of the country.
He said such activities are nothing but the ruling party’s provocation.
Mirza Fakhrul also claimed that BNP is working to restore democracy in the country peacefully. “BNP thinks that the government can be changed through free and fair elections.”
The BNP senior leader also said the government doesn’t want any fair election and they (government) became isolated from the common people. “So, they want to get out BNP from the politics.”
