BNP hopes Narayanganj 7-murder verdict to help remove fear from public mind
BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on Monday hoped that the Narayanganj seven-murder verdict would help remove fear and helplessness from public mind.
“I think Narayanganj seven-murder verdict will help establish the rule of law in the country and remove fear and helplessness from public mind,” he said.
The BNP senior leader came up with the remarks at a human chain formed by Jatiyatabadi Desh Bachao Manush Bachao, a pro-BNP platform, in front of the National Press Club in the city.
“Some more legal steps will have to cross for execution of the lower court verdict. The final remarks should be made after execution of the verdict,” he said.
Dudu said the trial of all murders, enforced disappearances and other unfair acts should be held for establishing rule of law in the country.
He said formation of a neutral election is important for holding free and neutral polls and urged the prime minister to assist the president in formation of neutral election commission (EC).
He warned that their party would take to the streets if a neutral EC is not formed.
The BNP leader also criticised the government for evicting hawkers from Gulistan and Motijheel areas without keeping alternative spaces for their business.
