BNP’s charter vision-2030Khaleda Zia to hold press conference soon
About unveiling full version of BNP’s charter vision-2030,Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the party chairperson Khaleda Zia would place it soon, saying it might be on May 10 subjected to availability of venue.
Mirza Farkhrul on Friday claimed that judiciary could not function independently if the government mounted pressure on it.
Talking to reporters at a city hospital, Fakhrul said that it was clear to the people following the recent statement of the Chief Justice.
The statement suggesting that there was no democracy in the country and that judiciary could not play their role independently meant the government was interfering in judiciary, said Fakhrul.
He said that the institutions could not function independently in a country in absence of democracy.
Fakhrul was visiting ailing Sahara Hossain, the wife of late BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain, at the hospital.
The BNP leader alleged that the government was playing ‘dictatorship’ role to suppress the opinion of dissents.
He said there is no alternative to dialogue to resolve the present crisis.
He said BNP always stated that the party wanted democracy and solution to the crisis saying it is only possible through discussion.
Fakhrul said the government should come to the path of democracy shunning stubbornness.
Asked about BNP’s ongoing reorganisation and intra-party conflicts that turned violent, he said BNP is a big political party and minor problems in one or two places are natural.
Such problems happened in other parties also particularly in big parties,’ he said.
