BCL founding anniversary being observed

The 71th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League, is being observed today.

The programme was inaugurated by cutting a cake on the premises of Curzon Hall on Dhaka University (DU) campus at 8:00 am.

Before that, leaders and activists of BCL placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 7:00 am.

On the occasion, the BCL will hold a four-day elaborate programme, including rally and blood donation campaign.

On January 4, 1948, BCL was floated as a student organization at the instruction of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a year before the formal emergence of Awami Muslim League, now Awami League.

Now it’s working as the student wing of the ruling Awami League.
